Since I graduated a few years ago, I’ve kept looking for my true job interest. Finally, I found it, but now I’m afraid of making the effort in this interested area. I don’t know why I’m like this. How to overcome this obstacle I make for myself?

第一我想说你在自己想做的领域找到了自己的兴趣点是很好的事情。诚实来讲，我曾遇到很多不知道自己在哪方面感兴趣，或者那些从来不会花费时间和精力去寻找自己兴趣点的人。他们很多在做着自己不感兴趣或者没有动力去完成的工作或是职业。这样他们不仅很难取得事业的成功，在工作中也会觉得不开心。所以我认为，你为取得一个更成功，更令人满意的事业已经做出了一半的努力。这是很值得高兴的。

I want to first say that I think it’s great that you pursued and have found your interest in what you want to do. To be honest, I’ve met many candidates who either never find what they’re really interested in doing, or who don’t even make the effort to try and look for it. Many of them end up in jobs and careers that they don’t enjoy, or are unmotivated or uninspired. Not only are they less successful, but less happy in their career as well. So as far as I’m concerned, you’ve done half of what you need to achieve a more successful and satisfying career. That’s something you should feel pretty good about.

至于你说你害怕为自己所感兴趣的事情付出更多的精力，实际上，你害怕为一个新鲜事物和一件你从未做过的事情而付出努力，这是正常的。如果失败了怎么办？如果你发现你对于这件事并不是很擅长怎么办？之后要怎么办？

Regarding you’re being afraid to make the effort to pursue what you’ve found your interest in, actually, it’s human nature and quite normal to be afraid to pursue something new that you care about and haven’t done before. What if you fail? What if you’re not very good at this job or career you’re interested in? What then?

Regarding you’re being afraid to make the effort to pursue what you’ve found your interest in, actually, it’s human nature and quite normal to be afraid to pursue something new that you care about and haven’t done before. What if you fail? What if you’re not very good at this job or career you’re interested in? What then? 

我能鼓励你的唯一一点是强化你的意志和如何更好的生活及发展事业的方法。在没有得到你认为自己应该得到的东西前先不要只求稳定。要为那些你在乎的事情而努力。在没达到你所期望的自己之前要不断努力。这可能听起来很难，但以我的经验来说，你会得到回报。那些最值得你去追求的事情往往是最难达到的事情。或者正如有个人曾跟我说的，如果这件事情很容易的话那么人人都可以做到了！

In addition, for most of us, we’re often our own biggest obstacle or enemy for pursuing and achieving what we desire. We’re afraid. We lack confidence. We’re too conservative. We’re too negative, or just too lazy. Facing our own personal shortcomings is our biggest challenge.

The only thing I can encourage you to do is to work on your mindset and overall approach to your life and career. Don't let yourself settle for less than what you feel you deserve. Fight for what you care about and what matters to you. Get angry when you’re being less than what you want and expect yourself to be. While this may sound like a hard way to be towards yourself, in my experience, it will pay off. The things most worth pursuing are often the most difficult to achieve. Or as someone once said to me, if it was that easy then everyone could do it.
